When is RO the right choice?
RO operates at the molecular level — it removes PFAS above EPA limits, nitrates, arsenic, radium, and uranium that carbon filters cannot address. It is the only practical single-system consumer solution for multi-contaminant profiles involving these substances.
- NSF/ANSI 58: the RO-specific certification, equivalent to 42 + 53 combined
- Remineralization stage: restores calcium and magnesium removed by RO — improves taste and health value
- UV stage: eliminates any remaining bacteria or viruses — a final safety net
- NSF/ANSI 372: lead-free housing and components
An under-sink point-of-use RO unit is practical and cost-effective for most households. Whole-house RO is unnecessary for municipal water — and expensive to maintain.
